ONG AND BERNARDO HONORED AT AUSTRALIAN MATH COMPETITION EVENT

Two Ateneo Junior High School students- Dion Ong and Jimbo Bernardo- were both feted at the 2017 Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) Presentation Ceremony held in St. Jude Catholic School in the morning of October 19, 2017. Dion Ong (Cardoner/10-Canisius) was awarded the AMC Medal which is conferred only to the best student/s out of every 10,000 participants (by Australia’s standards) and/or is deemed outstanding in his year and region by the AMC Committee. Ong was also invited to make a response speech in the said awarding ceremony. Meanwhile, Jimbo Bernardo (La Storta/8-Del Castillo) was awarded the High Distinction Certificate for being in the top 3% of his year and region.

Bernardo and Ong took the AMC test last August 3, 2017 in a local testing center under the supervision of the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG), Philippines. The AMC is one of the world’s largest school-based mathematics competitions. In 2017, close to  600,000 students from more than 30 countries participated in the competition.
