Cabrera and Suplico win 2 bronzes for PH at Thailand fencing competition

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo Junior High School students Enrico Suplico (Montserrat/10-Maunoir) and Thomas Cabrera (Cardoner/8-Azevedo) each won a bronze medal in the Thailand Fencing Federation (TFF) Minime Series. Suplico’s bronze was for the U16 saber event while Cabrera’s bronze was for the U14 saber event. They were coached by Edward Daliva. The TFF Minime competition was held in Bangkok, Thailand from Dec. 9 – 10, 2018.

Suplico and Cabrera also won bronze medals in the recent UAAP Season 81 fencing championship. They were part of the Ateneo quartet (with Ateneo Senior High School students Mako Guarin of STEM/11-Torres & Polo Llagas of STEM/12-Walpole) that won bronze in the boys’ saber team event last Nov 24, 2018. In addition, Suplico won another bronze medal for the boys’ individual saber event. The UAAP Season 81 fencing championship was held from Nov. 22 – 25, 2018 at the Victoria Sports Complex in Quezon City.
