Marlon J. Manuel is currently the National Coordinator of the Alternative Law Groups (ALG).
He started his legal practice in 1994 when he joined the SyCip Salazar Hernandez and Gatmaitan law offices. In 1996, he joined Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligal (SALIGAN). From 2001 until 2007, he served as SALIGAN’s Executive Director. 
Until January 2015, he was the Vice-Chairperson for the Basic Sectors of the National Anti-Poverty Commission. At present, he still serves as member of the steering committees of various organizations and consortiums, as well as on of the Executive Committee of the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE). Marlon is also a partner in the Dellosa Mendoza Bag-ao and Manuel Law Office.
Marlon obtained his Bachelor of Science degree (major in Legal Management) from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1990. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the same university in 1994, graduating with second honors and obtaining the Evelio Javier Leadership Award. Marlon served as President of the Ateneo Law Student Council in his senior year. He took the 1994 Bar Examinations (ranked 5th) and has been teaching at Ateneo Law since 1996.
