Patrick Simon Perillo is a member of the Political Law and International Law, as well as the Legal Research and Writing Departments of the Law School, teaching a number of courses under these departments. He served as the Law School’s Linkages Associate and Program Coordinator of the Master of Human Rights and Democratisation (MHRD), an EU-funded program administered by the Law School in partnership with universities in the Asia Pacific region. His areas of interest include public international law, international human rights law, international environmental law, international organizations, and sustainable development. He welcomes J.D., MHRD, and LL.M. thesis students working on these topics.
Patrick previously served at the Office of the President of the Philippines as counsel with the rank of Director IV. He also served as Court Attorney at the Supreme Court of the Philippines and before that, as Associate at Castillo Laman Tan Pantaleon & San Jose. While in New York, he worked as Research Assistant and later, as Research Associate to Professor Lori F. Damrosch during her Presidency at the American Society of International Law. He also interned at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment and the UNDP Headquarters. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2009. He also teaches Constitutional Law and International Law at De La Salle University.
He is currently on leave while pursuing his Ph.D. at Cambridge University on a Newton Scholarship, where he is a Managing Editor of the Cambridge International Law Journal and was Co-Convenor of the 7th Annual Cambridge International Law Conference. His Ph.D. research focuses on corporate accountability in international and comparative law for human rights and environmental concerns.
