Ateneo Law conducts RTD on the Revised Corporation Code

May 06, 2019

On April 26, 2019, the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law’s Fr. Joaquin G. Bernas SJ Institute for Continuing Legal Education (the “Bernas Institute”) kicked off what it hopes to be a series of regularly occurring Round Table Discussions (RTD) on relevant and significant matters of interest to the legal community.

With the valued cooperation and generous support of the Philippine Stock Exchange Foundation, Inc., the newly enacted Revised Corporation Code and its legal and practical implications was the topic of the inaugural RTD with Atty. Camilo Correa (Ateneo Law School (ALS) Class of 1991), current General Counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission as the principal resource person.  This RTD likewise had Atty. Roel Refran (ALS Class of 1999) a member of the ALS faculty and the present Chief Operating Officer of the Philippine Stock Exchange acting as the moderator.

To ensure a more fulsome discussion and broader participation from the attendees—composed of ALS professors and several law firm-based and in-house legal counsels—the RTD adopted a more casual format with conversation over coffee and pastries.

At the end of the RTD, Atty. Correa thanked the participants and organizers for the insights that he himself gained from the dialogue.  Indeed, it is the intent of the Bernas Institute RTD series to provide a convenient venue to acquire important knowledge and convey productive comments, thoughts, and ideas.
