Ateneo Law School alumnus Rodil V. Zalameda appointed to the Supreme Court

Ateneo Law School alumnus Rodil V. Zalameda (L.L.B ‘87) has been appointed as the new Justice of the Supreme Court.

Ateneo Law School dean Jose Maria G. Hofileña announced Zalameda’s appointment saying “We extend our most sincere congratulations to Justice Zalameda and wish him all the best in his new responsibilities as he brings to it a fidelity to the Ateneo standards and values as to which we all strive to remain constantly true.”

Zalameda is the 184th Supreme Court Associate Justice. He was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to replace Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo who retired last July 29, 2019.

Zalameda was part of the pioneering batch of applicants to the Supreme Court which took a decision-writing exam, a new requirement set by the Judicial and Bar Council.
 

Before his appointment, Zalameda was Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals since September 2008. He passed the bar exams in 1988.
