“I put my heart into your hands
Learn the lessons you teach
No matter what, wherever I am
You're not hard to reach” - (PURPOSE by Justin Bieber)
Most of the time, I find myself grappling for ways to survive the demands of life. It is an everyday struggle to efficiently juggle roles and wear different hats. I am getting disappointed with my choices, foregoing what really are important yet being shackled by the call of the situation. Guilty as charged, the word “busy” has become my usual opening statement to conversations. And sadly, even in my conversations with God.
There is a prayer by Sir Jacob Astley posted at my work area that says, “I will be busy.” It is a prayer asking God not to forget me if I forget Him, because I will surely be busy on that day. In my heart, I know what it really means. Busy or not, I don’t want God to leave me, that I always want Him by my side.
The Gospel and the readings today resonate the whole essence of Lent. It is God’s invitation of self-renewal and reconciliation. It is also an opportunity to regroup and recalibrate. What makes this invitation special is that He will be my ultimate companion. It is definite that I don’t have to fight the battle alone. That even in my solitude, He will be there to help me clear up spaces in my spiritual deck, so there will be enough room for Him to stay.
And yes, with Him and through Him, that I can only find strength and courage to win life battles, and ultimately, serve my true purpose…everyday, in every way.
