Zion Uy wins gold for PH at IKMC

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Grade School mathletes Zion Uy (6-Campion), Rohan Herrera (6-Xavier), and Darren Uy (6-Xavier) won gold, silver, and bronze- respectively- in the Upper Primary Division of the 2020 International Kangaroo Mathematics Olympiad (IKMC). Filipino mathletes garnered 107 gold, 179 silver, and 290 bronze medals in the IKMC, which was conducted in the country online on June 27, 2020.

The International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest originated in France in 1991 and quickly became very popular with students all over the globe. The contest’s main purpose is to promote mathematical thinking and stimulate an interest in math by providing students with an opportunity to broaden their minds and compare their abilities against the abilities of other students across the world.
