Zion Uy receives trophy for being PH Top Scorer and ranking 3rd globally in TIMO heat round

Zion UyFive Ateneo de Manila Grade School mathletes were feted at a national awarding ceremony on January 12, 2020. Leading them was Zion Uy of 5-Ifugao, who received a trophy and two gold medals. The trophy was for being the Top Philippine Scorer in the Primary Level 5 category in the Thailand International Math Olympiad (TIMO) Heat Round and on achieving a global rank of #3 also in the TIMO Heat Round. The two gold medals at he received were for his First Prize finish in the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area Mathematical Olympiad (a.k.a. Big Bay Bei) Heat Round and  for his performance in the TIMO Heat Round. As reported in various web outlets in November 2019, five AGS mathletes finished the TIMO Heat Round with medal awards: Zion Uy and Alphan Lomibao- both from 5-Ifugao- earned the gold award, while Sieggy Cajucom (5-Ati), Rohan Herrera (5-Ifugao), and Darren Uy (5-Ifugao) all earned the silver award. All AGS awardees- except for Lomibao - were present at the ceremony, which was held on January 12, 2020 at the UP School of Statistics Auditorium in Diliman, Quezon City.
Zion Uy, Lomibao, Cajucom, Herrera and Darren Uy are all qualified to compete in the final round of the TIMO, which will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from April 3 to 6, 2020.
