AHS Chess Team is 1st runner-up in PRADA, JAM, & PAYA tournaments!

The Ateneo de Manila High School chess team placed second in three recent chess tournaments: the PRADA (Private Schools Athletic Development Association), PAYA (Philippine Athletic Youth Association), and JAM (Jesuit Athletic Meet).

The results of the PRADA chess tournament that took place on November 8, 15, 22, 29, and December 6 and 7 are as follows:

Board 3 - Pancho Carlos (11K) - 4.5/5 NO LOSS. 4 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw- GOLD Medalist
Board 4 - Kailo Bigcas (10F)- 5.5/6 NO LOSS. 5 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw- GOLD Medalist
Board 1 - Haince De Leon (10B)- 5.5/8: 5 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw- SILVER Medalist
Board 6 - Carlo Acosta (11B)- SILVER Medalist

The other members of the team who competed in the PRADA tournament were Josh Castillo (12N) and Migs Medina (11-0).

The Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM) was held from November 27 to December 1 in Ateneo de Naga. The AHS placed 2nd in the chess tournament. The results of the chess championship are as follows:

Board 2 - Pancho Carlos (11K)- 2.5/4  2 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw- SILVER Medalist
Board 3 - Kailo Bigcas (10F) - 4/4 Perfect 4 wins- GOLD Medalist
Board 4 - Migs Medina (11O)- 3/3 Perfect! 3 wins- GOLD Medalist
Board 5 - Brian Villa (9E) - 1.5/2 1 win, 0 losses, 1 draw- GOLD Medalist

Haince De Leon (10B) also competed for the AHS chess team at JAM.

Last but not least, the AHS chess team also placed second in the PAYA chess championship held on September 6-7, and October 18-19. The results for Team AHS are as follows:  

Board 1 - Haince De Leon (10B): 7/7 Perfect 7 wins- GOLD Medalist
Board 3 - Kailo Bigcas (10F): 5/7 5 wins, 2 losses, 0 draws- BRONZE Medalist
Board 5 - Brian Villa (9E): BRONZE Medalist

Also competing at the PAYA chess championship were Pancho Carlos (11K) and Miguel Sulit (9A).
