53rd ACELT Conference

This year’s conference responds to the challenges posed by the reforms of the K-12 curriculum in the basic education and the collegiate general education sectors. With focus on the Teaching of Literature, the conference covers, in both keynote lectures and parallel workshop, the (1) current situation of the subject of literature in basic and collegiate education since the piloting of the K-12 reforms across the country; and (2) best practices and approaches applied in the teaching of literature subjects.

The conference seeks to answer the following questions: (1) How do we reiterate the importance of Literature in the 21st century; and (2) How do we emphasize critical thinking and interdisciplinarity as we redefine skills learned in Literature across all levels? In the end, the conference reiterates that Literature remains to be relevant in any moment of change, as it offers opportunities for sharp articulations of perspectives and careful discernment of the human condition.
