What is Tagpo?

Through a grant from me Commission on Higher Education, we in the Loyola Schools are in the process of establishing Tagpo. This is envisioned to be a center for values research: a locus for scholars from various fields to meet, not only each other, but also stakeholders. resource persons and advocates in the hope of creating relevant, grounded and collaborative research work whose focus is on what we Filipinos value.
This could mean many different things: a rediscovery of our grounds for aesthetic and moral valuation, or a scrutiny of the notion of Filipino values, or on exploration of what we strive to hold onto in changing social, economic and political landscapes, or a reaffirmation of some transcendent good which grounds our being.

About the colloquia

The launch of the center will be comprised of two whole-day colloquia on February 10 & 24. We have requested distinguished scholars to speak to us about their work in their respective fields. We hope that listening to their pioneering efforts will help inspire us and open up possibilities for further research on both the challenges and the continued significance of studying values within Philippine contexts.
