Henry Lee Irwin SJ Chair Lecture on Stage Adaptation by Mr. Rody Vera

Playwright "Rody" Rodolfo Vera, this year's Henry Lee Irwin SJ Professorial Chair holder, will deliver his Irwin SJ lecture titled 
“Mga Paraan ng Adaptasyon para sa Dulaan: O Isang Pasilip sa Paghalaw batay sa Aking Piling Obra,” 
on Monday, April 22, 2019, 5:00-6:30 pm, 
at the Faura Hall AVR, Ateneo de Manila University.

The lecture focuses on adapting materials (foreign or local) for the Filipino stage.
Vera will discuss adapting for theater and drawing on his own experience as well as on the practices of other artists in Philippine contemporary theater.
Vera has been writing for Philippine theater for the past three decades.
He is also an actor, theater director, and dramaturg. Among the highest accolades he has received are the
Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature Hall of Fame, the Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Francisco Balagtas from the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas, 
and the Gawad Tanglaw ng Lahi from the Ateneo de Manila. He is currently the executive director of The Writer's Bloc Inc., 
and committee member and co-founder of the annual Virgin Labfest.
