Message of the Dean

The School of Science and Engineering envisions itself to be a recognized Southeast Asian center of higher learning with academic leaders engaged in service to the nation and global community through science, technology and innovation.

We move towards this vision through four main priority areas of research chosen because of their relevance in building our nation. These are Disaster Science and Mitigation, Environment, Health, and Science and Mathematics Education. Our research projects on these areas are interdisciplinary and funding in the last three years have totaled to over 300 M pesos.

These projects are run by eight departments working together seamlessly and these departments are Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer and Communications Engineering, Environmental Science, Health Sciences, Information Systems and Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics. Five of these departments are CHED Centers of Excellence and 2 are CHED Centers of Development.

The departments are powered by a multi-awarded and interdisciplinary faculty which include 4 Metrobank Outstanding Teachers, 13 National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Outstanding Young Scientists, one NAST Academician and one National Scientist.

It is also this faculty which mentors a carefully selected group of students enrolled in the fourteen undergraduate programs and 23 graduate programs that the School offers.

It is through these programs and through our research that we stay true to our mission which is to be a teaching and research community engaged in the formation of scientists and engineers grounded on their Filipino self, with high ethical standards, open to the call of leadership and service, and who are inspired socially and culturally to advance technologies for sustainability and the betterment of life and environment.
