Winners of the Interlinks People's Choice Awards, BPI Science Awards and SOSE Outstanding Research Awards 2018

INTERLINKS

INTERLINKS is Ateneo’s fully integrated research showcase and culmination event that is geared towards industry-academe collaboration to create products & services of value and/or have significant social impact.
 
In this year’s INTERLINKS we would like to Inspire a culture on science and technology in the Philippines through actively supporting and nurturing the next generation of technologists, scientists and engineers, Integrate various professions and field to create a multidisciplinary and collaborative culture of solving the country’s problems and finally Innovate our way into a sustainable and prosperous nation.
 
Interlinks was held in MVP Roofdeck from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on May 4, which featured the collaborative projects, research and theses of the students, faculty and staff of the School of Science and Engineering. 
 
The People’s Choice Award is given to the thesis/project that garnered the most number of votes from the students, faculty, guests that participated in the Interlinks.
 

BPI-DOST Science Awards

The BPI-DOST Science Awards is an annual competition where two of the best SOSE students chosen for academic excellence, leadership and research are nominated for the awards and confirmed by a Committee composed of executives from Bank of the Philippine Islands and the Department of Science and Technology.  The Grand Awarding ceremonies will be held in the Mind Museum on June 5, 2018.
 

SOSE Outstanding Student Research Awards
 
This was started in the year 2001 by the former Dean of SOSE, Dr. Fabian M. Dayrit.  The tradition of excellence in research has continued, and has given rise to recognition of research both in the basic sciences and in technology innovation, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. The research works were judged on the basis of scientific quality, originality and significance to the discipline or field.
 
POSTER PRESENTATION
The students were initially judged on the following: written extended abstracts and presentation of their poster for the judges to view and ask questions about. After which, 2 finalists per category were chosen from all the entries. 
 
ORAL PRESENTATION
The student finalists then gave an oral presentation of their research before the board of judges for final selection of the 1st and 2nd prizes.
 
The winners were awarded during the SOSE Outstanding Student Research Awarding Ceremonies which was held on May 4, Friday, 5:30PM at MVP Roofdeck.
