Mendoza, Lara Katrina T.

Lara Mendoza has two Master’s degrees in Literature and Linguistics, earning her MA in Literature from the Ateneo de Manila University and her advanced MA in Cognitive and Functional Linguistics from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Catholic University of Louvain). She graduated with a PhD in Music from the University of the Philippines as a recipient of the CHED K-12 Transition Program Grant, specialising in Popular Culture and Music studies, particularly the urban hip-hop and underground scenes of Metro Manila. She was a Fellow at the Department of Popular Culture in Bowling Green State University, where she was mentored by Dr. Jeremy Wallach. She is also currently the team leader of the CHED-NCCA Salikha project, Ethnographies of Philippine Auditory Popular Cultures (EPAPC). Lara is also a certified teacher trainor of English Language Teaching, Lancaster University. Her research interests are in youth, sports, music, underground, and teacher training. Lara Mendoza would be willing to advise students with interests in culture studies, performance studies, popular culture, music, ethnomusicology, sociolinguistics, applied literature, and sports (as it can relate to culture and performance).
