Atenean bags championship in tennis tournament
Ino Canlas (IV BS Management) recently won the championship of the Solinco Tennis Tournament in the 23 Years Old and Under event last Feb. 5, 2017 at the TLH Sports and Wellness Center in Valenzuela City.
It was his first time to compete in the Solinco tourney but he has already won over 60 titles and awards from different tennis competitions. He started winning in grade school from individual age group tournaments to varsity team tennis. Some of his major achievements included winning the Moro Lorenzo Athlete of the Year in 2013, being a part of the Junior Davis Cup in 2009 and the World Junior Tennis Tournament in 2008.
Apart from these, Canlas is also the Team Captain of the Ateneo de Manila University Lawn Tennis Varsity Team. The team will start competing in the UAAP Season 79 Tennis Campaign.
"I hope the Ateneo community could go out and support both the men’s and women’s tennis teams," he said. "It’s a great sport that I fell in love with ever since I was 5 years old and I hope everyone gets a chance to watch a game or at least get to know the sport."
He added that the Ateneo teams have been putting in the work the whole year round so they are going to make it count during the competition.
