Ateneo's first ever girls table tennis team is QC champ!

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School’s first ever girls’ table tennis team emerged as champion of the Quezon City Table Tennis meet on November 28, 2016. Held in Diosdado P. Macapagal Elementary School, the competition was a pre-qualifier for Palarong Pambansa 2017. As QC champions, the Ateneo girls’ table tennis team will represent Quezon City at the regionals and compete against the best girls’ table tennis teams in the NCR for the right to represent the National Capital Region in Palarong Pambansa 2017.

The champions are (from left) Kathleene Joy Bulaqueña (11- Gonzaga), Mariella Mabacquiao (11-Campion), Coach Michael Breiva, Jely Joyce Dayrit (11-Brebeuf), and Angela Ladisla Angela Calvo (11-Campion).

In the individual events, Mabaquiao won the gold medal while Bulaqueña took the silver. 
In the doubles category, Calvo & Dayrit also grabbed gold in the girls’ doubles. Also winning the gold in the mixed doubles event were Mario Quimbo (not in photo) of 12-E & Mabaquiao.
