Last November 24, 2018, the Grade 8 students of the Ateneo Junior High School, together with their guests, attended their batch social interaction activity. Held at the Ateneo de Manila High School Covered Courts, the event, aptly named “Kapit,” was the result of the hard work and dedication of the Grade 8 Batch Committee and its many volunteers. The group brainstormed on an appropriate title and decided to use the vernacular for the English word hold on. According to them, one only holds on to someone who is trusted, and because the activity hopes to allow the Grade 8 gentlemen to be more confident in socializing and forming new bonds of friendship, the astute members of the committee decided to call their event, “Kapit.” The 1 to 6 P.M. affair was packed with educational and fun activities. There was a talk on handling stress by Liecel M. Trinidad- Fulgencio, MD, DPBP, FPPA, Clinical Associate Professor Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine in UP-PGH, and there was also a talk with a demonstration on basic self-defense for teens by Mr. Kenneth Asuncion of Krav Maga Philippines. During their long break, an opportune time for socializing and bonding, there were performances by several bands from the different clusters to entertain everyone. The day was capped with a fun group game that promoted interaction among the attendees. Raffle prizes like the Smart Bro pocket wifi and prepaid cards were also given out, and all the female guests received tokens from generous parent sponsors.
