Jimbo Bernardo is among NCR's top 50 mathletes

Jimbo Bernardo Jimbo Bernardo of La Storta/10-Garnier was recently named one of the 22nd Philippine Mathematical Olympiad’s (PMO) NCR Area Stage Qualifiers. This means that he is among the NCR’s 50 brightest mathletes in the junior high school and senior high school divisions. The next phase of the PMO will take place on November 16, 2019. There, Bernardo will compete against the best math wizards from all over the Philippines.

Jimbo Bernardo is the AJHS’ most accomplished mathlete. Last week, he was the only AJHS student who won the gold award in the heat round of the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO). Last July, he won a gold medal and was named overall champion of the 3rd International Junior Math Olympiad (IJMO) grade 9 division. In addition, he also won two silver medals in the 1st ever Vanda Science Global Finals, one for the individual round and another for the team challenge. Per the press release of Asian Math-Sci League (AMSLI) Philippines, this was the first time these two competitions organized by the International Math Contests Centre (IMCC) were held under one event. The IJMO and Vanda competitions were held in the morning and afternoon of July 27, 2019, respectively, at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
