Mendoza and Gulmatico rep PH at Pokemon World Championships in Washington D.C.

Aki Gulmatico (left) and Sky Mendoza  Representing the Philippines, AJHS students Sky Mendoza of Pamplona/9-Southwell and Aki Gulmatico of Cardoner/9 -Baena did very well in the Pokémon World Championships held in Washington, D.C. from August 16 - 18, 2019. Mendoza made it to Top 32 and ranked 25th overall in the Trading Card Game (TCG) Seniors Division of the World Championships with a 4 win-2 loss -1 draw scorecard. Meanwhile, Gulmatico scored two First Place finishes in the Pokémon TCG side tournaments: King of the Hill and Pokémon Pods with a 9-match sweep. Sky is the President and Aki is the VP of ARKANE, home of Pokémon TCG and Magic the Gathering in the AJHS. The World Championships were attended by hundreds of prequalified competitors from 49 countries across all divisions.
