Ambassador Manuel Antonio J. Teehankee is International Counsel and Professor of International Law.  He was Philippine Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization in Geneva (2004-2011) and Chair of the WTO’s Committee on Trade and Environment (2007-2011).  He was awarded the Department of Foreigh Affairs Distunguished Service Award (24 February 2012) for his diplomatic service to the country.
A lawyer by training, he had served as Undersecretary of the Department of Justice and Government Corporate Counsel for the Philippine government and had practiced law in New York and the Philippines. His experience includes appearing before international arbitral tribunals, such as before the Iran-US Claims Tribunal and the WTO Dispute Settlement body and ad hoc tribunals under ICSID, SIAC, ICC and UNCITRAL rules.
Mr. Teehankee is Executive Director of the Ateneo Center for the Rule of Law and Program Adviser to the Ateneo LLM Program and regularly lectures for various institutes and policy organizations.
