Ateneo HRC/CORD 40th Anniversary Celebration

June 04, 2015

Last March 21, 2015, Ateneo CORD/HRC marked its 40th anniversary through an event entitled, CORD@40: A Night of Commemoration and Celebration.

Those who had been involved in CORD/HRC’s development and growth from the 1970s up to the current period as facilitators, consultants, and staff were invited to share their happiest moments at the center. Notably, the evening included a communal documentation of the center’s history. Guests were invited to create a timeline of their most significant activities and projects in CORD/HRC on huge tarpaulins and share a few words regarding these personal and institutional milestones.

A highlight of the anniversary celebration was the honoring of center’s founders, Dr. Carmela “Lita” Ortigas and Dr. Patricia “Tatti” Licuanan, by past and present members for their contributions and mentorship. Dr. Ortigas and Dr. Licuanan, in turn, also recalled their own stories of their time in CORD/HRC.

The center then paid tribute to its past and current executive directors: Dr. Miren Intal (1993), Dr. Mila Lagrosa (1990, 1993 - 1994, 1998 - 2001), Ms. Triccie Sison (1994 - 1997), Dr. Gina Hechanova (2008 - 2013), and Dr. Bo peep Franco (2001 – 2008, 2013 – present).  Short video presentations of what colleagues admired and remembered about each director were shown. The night ended by recognizing Ms. Amy Raneses and Ms. Josephine Perez for their years of CORD/HRC service, which started in the 1970s.
