Ateneo de Manila Grade School mathletes Alphan Lomibao (6-Xavier) and Magnus Navarro (6-Bellarmine) each won the silver award for the Philippines at the International Junior Math Olympiad (IJMO). Alphan and Magnus competed in the Primary 5/Grade 5 division of the competition, which was held online on December 5, 2020.
Only Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) and American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO) gold and silver awardees from each country are eligible to participate in the IJMO, which aims to provide an Asian platform for students to interact and compete against worthy opponents. IJMO also empowers students with deep conceptual understanding and logical thinking skills beyond their Grade level, allowing them to better apply much higher level logical and analytical skills to solve challenging Math Olympiad problems.

The IJMO attracted young math and science students from Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
