ACELT Organizes English Training for DepEd Grade 9 Teachers

One hundred seventy Grade 9 English teachers from the divisions of Malabon, Marikina, Navotas, Paranaque and Valenzuela will begin their training on 26-30 May 2014 at the Ateneo de Manila University Loyola Heights campus The Regional Training for Grade 9 English Teachers in the K-12 Basic Education Program is commissioned by the Department of Education and organized by the Ateneo de Manila University through the office of the Vice President for the Loyola Schools and the Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT).  The training program is a 5-day live-in teacher training seminar on the K-12 Grade 9 curriculum with topics on the 21st Century Learner, Differentiated Instruction, Assessment, and Localization and Contextualization among others.

Ms. Susana Hembra-Aguilar (Paranaque), Ms. Gail Garcia (Malabon), Ms Librada Gazzingan (Marikina), Marco Meduranda (Navotas and Ms Winnie Tugade (Valenzuela) comprise the training team from DepEd, while Ms. Ana Marie Fernandez is the trainer and coordinator for ACELT and Ateneo. The six trainers have been certified after completing the National Training of Trainers at the Teachers Camp, Baguio City from 4 - 9 May 2014.

The Ateneo de Manila University is the site of the regional training of Grade 9 teachers for both English and Filipino, as well as the National Training of Trainers for Grade 9 Math.
