AMPLify: Frequently Asked Questions

For individual patients requesting for swabbing

Q. Does AMPLify perform swabbing?

No. As of end of April 2021, AMPLify does not perform swabbing on-site. We only test specimen that are collected by other clinics/facilities.

Q. How long after being exposed to COVID-19 positive patient should I get tested?

It is ideal that the exposed individual should wait for about 5 to 7 days before getting tested via RT-PCR.

Q. What should a person do when they have been exposed to COVID-19 positive patient?

The person should immediately self-isolate and observe for symptoms until 14 days after exposure to a known active COVID-19 patient.

Q. What is the incubation period of the coronavirus disease?

The incubation period of COVID-19 which is the time between exposure to the virus and symptom onset is on average 5-6 days but it can be as long as 14 days.

Q. I am scheduled for RT-PCR testing, is there any preparation that I have to do?

Patients are requested not to drink, eat, or gargle at least 30 minutes before getting swabbed as it may affect the accuracy and validity of the test

Q. What do I do if I tested positive for coronavirus?

It is a must to self-isolate upon testing positive. Get enough sleep and stay hydrated as much as possible. Stay in touch with your doctor for possible complication that may arise.

Q. I have been tested for coronavirus before, how long does it take for me to test negative?

Patients who have recovered from COVID-19 may still test positive after few weeks of recovery. For this reason, patients who have underwent at least 14 days in quarantine are generally considered non-infectious or the chances of infecting others is already significantly low.

Q. Do you accept swab specimens for COVID-19 testing collected by other institutions?

Yes. We do accept specimens collected by other institutions for COVID-19 testing. You may send formal request to amplify@ateneo.edu.

Q. Are your tests covered by PhilHealth?

No. The application for PHIC accreditation is still pending.

Q. For send-out services, what services and materials are inclusive in this package?

AMPLify provides the collection kit (viral transport medium with vial, oropharyngeal swab, nasopharyngeal swab, and zipper-locked bag) to the clients for swabbing; upon receipt of the specimen, AMPLify performs specimen handling, conduct of RT-PCR testing, and the test analysis and reporting.

Q. Are there packaging and transport requirements for send-out specimen?

Basic triple-packaging as advised by the WHO Guidelines for the Safe Transport of Infectious Substances and Diagnostic Specimens should be followed for proper packaging, storage, and transport of infectious disease specimen.
