NEWS | Personal data of University students publicly made available online

CANADA —A document containing personal data of students who used the University of Ottawa Students’ Union (UOSU) Food Bank was made publicly available on the union’s website. The document contained phone numbers and email addresses of one hundred eleven (111) students. They were accessible to anybody who clicked on a Google form posted on website. READ MORE

PHILIPPINES —The National Privacy Commission (NPC) teamed up with Globe to promote digital responsibility and data privacy among the Filipino youth. The partnership spurred the creation of a book for children aimed at helping them better understand the concept of data privacy and security. HONG KONG — WhatsApp’s new terms have prompted Hong Kong’s privacy commissioner to question the substantial amount of personal data that the platform will supposedly share with Facebook. The new terms will allow Facebook to gain access to information such as contact lists, location, financial information, and usage data.
